Marion County Jail Barracks

This is a unique facility in the State of Florida as most jails were very expensive and are able to house only a small number of inmates.  Our solution after consulting with the Marion County Sheriff’s detention facility was to provide a new design for a 25,000 sq. ft. barracks-type metal building structured jail facility, and the project was a huge success, so much so that various other counties have studied the concept and implemented the same or similar design for their jails.  The design currently houses 256 trustee inmates in four distinct quadrants and is intended for minimum security prisoners.  Most jails are designed for maximum security prisoners and the jails house minimum, medium and maximum security prisoners in separate areas but with the same design.  Our concept leaves the high security existing jail for the medium and maximum security inmates.  The construction materials selected were low maintenance and appropriate for this kind of facility.
